I departed from Santa Monica, CA two days ago on the 26th. I have thus far walked to Pasadena.
Some notable characters I've met: an encouraging man who, if I recall correctly, travels all over on his bike, says we're all here to help oneanother, and advocates exclusively consuming raw protien sources. He said that daily he eats about 2 lbs. of raw meet, a dozen eggs (I assume in their raw form) and (was it a gallon?) raw milk. This is all in accordance with his belief that our digestive systems are not geared towards the consumption of cooked foods. In addition to him, I met a brightly smiling, enthusiastic, inquisitive, and kind woman who displayed the latter by suddenly whisking off and, like some kind of elf, just as quickly reapearing with an ample bag of foodstuffs which I gratefully accepted. Also, she informed me that she writes a blog at www.mentalfloss.com which until I check it out a little more I hesitate to define as I may miss the mark. As I've learned after the fact of our encounter and with a glimps of her blog, her name is apparently Becky. "Hello, Becky." (yes, I actually just said that) if you're reading this and thank you once again. Part of the grace which she bestowed upon me assumed the form of a couple tins of sardines---a terribly missaligned super food I tells ya(!), sorry I get carried away sometimes---one of which seemed to have the oil uniquely infused with cumin: yum. I shall link with her---as soon as I get my act together.
